Top 5 Homemade Natural & Veg Hair Packs you Have to Try
Thick, long and well nourished hair is the pride of both the old fashioned and modern Indian woman. Ever wondered what else you can try, apart from the oil>shampoo>conditioner routine you follow to make your hair more beautiful?
The answer is the very underrated Hair Pack.
The beauty of Hair Packs are that if used religiously and made a part of your hair care routine, they keep away common hair problems. Dealing with hair fall? Or premature greying of hair?
It's very difficult to find good hair packs commercially available in supermarkets that are of good quality, reasonably priced and suitable for all hair types. Just like for other beauty solutions, we at The Khadi Shop are big fans of all things pure, earthy, 100% vegetarian & natural.
So what's the best homemade hair masks you can try?
1. Henna & Yogurt
Your hair needs food and this is the ultimate mother's recipe that addresses hair fall, graying. The combination with yogurt increases its conditioning properties. Henna acts as a natural colouring to rid of stray whites & is a good cooling agent. Don't leave it on for too long or you will end up with a really deep colour.
How to use: Soak the pure leaves overnight with strained black tea & squeeze half a lemon into the mixture. The next morning, mix in 1/2 a cup of yogurt or dahi and apply all over.
Strawberries are rich in anti-oxidants and are an unconventional option for a hair pack. Regardless, they are great to save wastage and promote hair growth. This season, try citrusy strawberries and watch how your hair begins to shine naturally from the first use.
How to use: Simply take a blender and use all the overripe strawberries that you can't get yourself to eat or throw away and make a semi thick puree. Then add some olive oil and apply all over your hair and scalp and leave it on for about 2-30 minutes.
3. Almond & Banana
Give your hair a much needed dose of nutrients by sharing your almond & banana breakfast with it. Rich in vitamins, both these fruits are potent enough to give damaged hair a quick fix.
How to use: Mash up one banana and mix in some pure almond oil with the powder 3-4 crushed almonds. Massage well into your hair and leave it on for about 25 minutes.
4. Milk & Honey
Sounds ingenious, doesn't it? It's not unheard of that raw milk is great for skin and hair. Honey has anti-bacterial properties and together, Milk & Honey are extremely hydrating for both the scalp and the hair and act like natural conditioners, especially for dry & damaged hair.
How to use: Mix in some pure honey into raw whole milk and apply directly. The consistency is very liquid and not at all like a mask but it works as a great leave in cleanser. Wash off with warm water after 20 minutes.
5. Aloe Vera & Lemon
Sick of dull looking hair? Add natural shine, life & much needed moisture to your hair with the combination of aloe vera & a dash of lemon juice. We love this hair pack because it also doubles up as a face pack!
How to use: Get your hands on pure aloe vera gel, lemon juice & some coconut oil. Mix them all up together and apply all over your hair. Leave on for 20 minutes and wash off.
